The Association of Mayors of Nuevo León, led by Adrián de la Garza, held a meeting with the state treasurer, Carlos Garza, to kick off the Stabilization Fund and begin the organization of the Treasurers Committee. It was agreed to activate this fund, which has 12 billion pesos at the national level, to support municipalities facing difficulties in covering payments such as bonuses and salaries.
Adrián de la Garza mentioned that it is unclear what the exact amount assigned to each municipality will be, but he committed to supporting efforts to ensure the closing of the year. He expressed concern about the decrease in revenues from the federation, which could indicate a complicated economic situation.
Also present at the meeting were David de la Peña, mayor of Santiago, and Jesús Nava, mayor of Santa Catarina, along with treasurers from other municipalities. There was a warning about the possibility of a financial crisis next year and a request for the activation of the Stabilization Fund to address significant declines in allocations.
The mayor of Nuevo León reported that communication has been established with the federation, which indicated that the fund will be activated quarterly, with activation expected in December. The idea of establishing a working group between municipal treasurers and the Executive was proposed to ensure equitable distribution of resources and prevent potential political conflicts in the future.
