Inauguration of the Amal Exhibition in Mexico City

The Head of Government, Clara Brugada, inaugurated the exhibition 'The Journey of Little Amal through Mexico', which aims to raise awareness of the human rights of refugees and migrants. During the inauguration, Brugada stated that to combat the migration phenomenon, it is necessary to provide supportive assistance.

In response to the policies of U.S. President Donald Trump, the capital's leader emphasized that what Amal represents is a powerful message about the importance of diversity and the strength it brings to a community. The exhibition will be available at the Gandhi Open Gallery in Chapultepec Forest until March 2.

Clara Brugada highlighted the importance of remembering that the history of humanity is marked by migrations and that Mexico City originated from the arrival of groups from various places. In her words, Amal represents the solidarity between peoples and the importance of addressing the root causes to mitigate the migration phenomenon from a humanitarian perspective.

The Head of Government expressed her support for the project of Mexico's President, Claudia Sheinbaum, to address the fundamental causes that drive migration. Additionally, Brugada called to not criminalize migrants and to reject narratives that equate migration with violence and crime.

Representatives such as Andrés Morales from UNESCO in Mexico and Germán Gutiérrez from the Mexican Commission for Refugee Assistance highlighted the importance of Amal as a reference to promote human rights and raise public awareness about the situation of refugees. In this regard, the need for empathy and solidarity with these individuals seeking refuge and protection was emphasized.

It was also mentioned that there has been an increase in the number of requests for refugee status recognition in Mexico, with a steady flow of people from different nationalities. It was emphasized that both children and adolescents, as well as applicants in general, have the support of authorities and society in their search for protection and better living conditions.
