The governor of Querétaro, Mauricio Kuri González, presented a formal proposal to the UN Tourism for the entity to host the Meeting of Affiliate Members of the Americas and the Regional Forum on Gastronomic Tourism, two prominent events of the international organization. During his working tour in Madrid, Spain, Kuri González met with the director for the Americas of UN Tourism, Gustavo Santos, to discuss tourism projects in Querétaro, including the construction of a National Museum of Mexican Gastronomy.
In this regard, the governor highlighted the favorable conditions of the entity to attract international tourism, such as connectivity and security. On his social media, he shared: "Today I met in Madrid with the director for the Americas of UN Tourism, Gustavo Santos, and we established a partnership to promote our state as a tourist destination. Welcome everyone!"
Gustavo Santos expressed interest in participating in the project of the National Museum of Mexican Gastronomy, as well as in the Sustainable Tourism Observatory of the State of Querétaro, which focuses on monitoring tourism activity to develop indicators in inclusive economy, environment, destination management, and society and culture.
It is noteworthy that Querétaro recently hosted World Habitat Day 2024 of the UN, and in June next, it will host the seventeenth edition of the Annual Conference of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
After the meeting with UN Tourism, the governor held a meeting with the global vice president of Banco Santander, Juan Manuel Cendoya, with the aim of strengthening collaboration with this financial institution, which is one of the main employers in Querétaro with over 5 thousand workers. Kuri González emphasized that the state holds international distinctions, such as being the leader in attracting foreign direct investment in 2024 and being recognized by the World Justice Project as a leader in the rule of law.
"Together with the UN, we invite everyone to enjoy Querétaro," affirmed the governor.
