In the city, new metropolitan parks are being developed aimed at promoting contact with nature and improving the quality of life in the area. One of these projects is the modernization of the Northern Metropolitan Park, which is still ongoing. At the same time, planning is progressing for the preliminary project of the Southern Metropolitan Park, the construction of which could begin during this year.
One of the highlighted projects is the transformation of the land formerly known as a dump into La Reserva Park, which spans 24.8 hectares. Currently, a perimeter fence, walkways, and a lighted monument have been installed, turning it into an important green space for the city. Another project underway is the development of the Park of Life, which includes the implementation of bike paths, playgrounds, and rest areas, along with the renovation of the iconic Ahuehuete area.
Regarding the El Potrero Metropolitan Park, it stands out for combining an ecological approach with historical preservation. The first phase of this park, soon to be completed, has included the establishment of walking paths, lighting, and recreational areas. In the second phase, the construction of children's areas, sports courts, thatched-roof shelters, and a reforestation program is planned for the benefit of local communities. The third stage of this park, known as 'Pradera Guanajuatense', will receive an investment of 126 million pesos to expand recreational areas and promote the conservation of biodiversity.
