During the recording of the Mexican telenovela "Mi amor sin tiempo", Karla Esquivel revealed that Leticia Calderón gave her a real slap. Esquivel shared scenes with Calderón, known for her role in "Esmeralda", and it was during one of those scenes where the incident took place. The actress of "Vencer el miedo" detailed this event on the podcast Plan Astral.
In the program, Esquivel explained that during the filming of Mexican telenovelas, slaps are usually simulated to avoid direct contact. However, in this case, Calderón actually hit Esquivel during a scene where her character, Greta, accuses Fátima, played by Esquivel, of aborting.
"This is the first time I say this, there are so-called flying slaps in the filming of projects... The actor marks it and moves their hand in front of your nose to avoid touching you, and the other person makes the motion of the hit," Esquivel explained. "But in this case, she got so close that I had nowhere to move, and she actually hit me."
Although on screen the surprised reaction of the other actors can be seen after the slap, Esquivel acknowledged that it was real. Leticia Calderón later apologized for the force of the hit: "No matter how much we tried to soften it, it was strong, I am very sorry."
Despite the apology, Esquivel mentioned that Calderón did not approach her personally to express her regrets. Even the producer of the telenovela at that time inquired about the situation, which led Esquivel to confront Calderón. The experience led Esquivel to change her perspective on Calderón, whom she had previously admired.
