Inauguration of the Children's Space at Universum

UNAM inaugurated a new 1700 m² space for children in the Science Museum, promoting curiosity and scientific knowledge from childhood.

The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) inaugurated the Children's Space of Universum, Museum of Sciences, with the aim of promoting scientific knowledge from childhood. This space of 1,700 square meters will allow children to explore in a playful way their relationship with the body, nature, and the universe.

During the inauguration, UNAM rector Leonardo Lomelí Vanegas emphasized the importance of introducing children to scientific knowledge at an early age to awaken their curiosity. Accompanied by Soledad Funes Argüello and Manuel Suárez Lastra, he highlighted UNAM's commitment to motivating children to develop scientific careers.

The Children's Space will have a library dedicated to science for early childhood, puppet theater, storytelling, children's concerts, and activities that will promote critical thinking. Children will also be able to enjoy outdoor games, experiments, exploration of a garden, and educational workshops.

Manuel Suárez Lastra pointed out that in this space, children and adults will be able to experiment with light, sound, and color, discovering scientific principles in an intuitive way. The initiative aims to bring young children closer to the world of science and awaken scientific vocations from an early age.
