Famous vocalist Alex Lora met Rafael Caro Quintero at Reclusorio Norte, where he dedicated a song to the drug trafficker. Lora visited the prison to offer a concert, and Caro Quintero, former leader of the Guadalajara Cartel, asked him to perform the song 'Sara', composed by Lora for him and his romance with Sara Cosío.
In an interview with Franco Escamilla, Alex Lora recalled the moment he performed in front of Caro Quintero in prison, sharing details of how the presentation unfolded. The atmosphere was described as festive, as the audience appreciated the drug trafficker. Additionally, Caro Quintero sent gifts to Lora as a token of gratitude, including alcohol, soft drinks, and sugar to make coffee.
The song 'Sara' contained snippets in which Caro Quintero expressed his love for Sara Cosío. The latter comes from a family linked to politics in Jalisco and is believed to have met Caro Quintero in exclusive places in Guadalajara.
Caro Quintero was first arrested in 1985 for the murder of 'Kiki' Camarena, a DEA agent from the United States. Released in 2013, he continued his criminal activities for the Sinaloa Cartel until his arrest again in July 2022 in Sinaloa, where he remains in prison.
