13,000 Cameras Deployed for Passion Play Security

The Government of Mexico City has announced that more than 13 thousand surveillance cameras will be available to protect the population attending the 182nd "Representation of the Passion of Christ" on the streets of the Iztapalapa municipality. These cameras, deployed by the Command, Control, Computing, Communications, and Citizen Contact Center (C5), aim to ensure the safety of attendees at the annual event.

Salvador Guerrero Chiprés, general coordinator of C5, mentioned that the cameras will allow monitoring of crowd concentrations, access points, and capacity, facilitating prevention and immediate response to possible risk situations or criminal attempts. The importance of prevention as a fundamental part of the institutional device established by the Head of Government, Clara Brugada, was emphasized.

Regarding recommendations for attendees, it was suggested to establish meeting points with companions, especially if minors are involved, and to carry visible identification for children, such as a wristband with name, contact phone number, and relevant medical information. Additionally, it was advised to have a current photograph of the minor as a reference in case of separation, to check the mobile phone battery before attending the event, and to protect oneself from the sun with a cap or other type of protection.

In case of separation, the Mobile C2 will provide support by announcing the missing person and will activate a search protocol coordinated with police units. The safety and well-being of attendees are priorities during the celebration of the "Representation of the Passion of Christ" in Iztapalapa.
