House Explosion with Fireworks in Mexico: Three Dead

An explosion in a house full of fireworks on the border between Pesquería and Apodaca left three people dead, six injured, and up to 44 homes damaged—some with minor issues like broken windows. Rescue and investigation teams are still operating at the scene.

Around 21:00, a large explosion was reported in the Los Olmos subdivision in Pesquería, which was felt for kilometers and completely collapsed three houses. The blast wave from the explosion damaged other houses as well.

Furthermore, Civil Protection personnel are with canine units searching for more people who may be trapped under the rubble.

There is tension in the municipal administration because, at the state level, any kind of fireworks is prohibited. "Additionally, there was a gas leak in which two pipelines ignited and exploded," said the director of Civil Protection of Nuevo León, Erik Cavazos.

The official also reported that two people died at the scene due to the explosion and a 15-year-old minor died in the hospital after suffering significant burns. Among the injured are four minors and two adults.

The mobilization of Civil Protection and Firefighters from Pesquería began, followed by Apodaca, and finally, due to the magnitude, state corporations from the entire metropolitan area joined in.

"What we started to see were fireworks, like rockets. One of the victims is only a year and a half old," the report states.

As of noon on November 29, elements of the State Investigation Agency are still at the scene. It is estimated that there is an underground movement of this type of product throughout the entity, mainly in these peripheral cities.
