Two Die in Mexico Fuel Pipeline Leak

A hydrocarbon leak in a Pemex pipeline in the Chicozapote rancherĂa, Centla municipality, Tabasco, resulted in the death of two people and caused road blockades in the region due to residents' dissatisfaction with the incident response. According to local media reports, the two victims, a father and son who worked in agriculture, were found unconscious near the spill on Saturday morning. They reportedly died from toxic gas inhalation, although official causes have not been confirmed. Residents have accused Pemex of poor pipeline maintenance and a slow response to the incident. In protest, locals blocked the Villahermosa-Frontera highway for several hours. Pemex has stated it suspended pipeline operations, began repairs, and is cooperating with authorities to investigate the root cause of the leak.
