The government of the State of Mexico and several municipalities are launching a large-scale police operation to ensure safety during the Easter holidays. Thousands of police officers and hundreds of patrol cars will be deployed to tourist and religious centers to serve millions of visitors.

The government of the State of Mexico and the municipalities of Tlalnepantla, Cuautitlán Izcalli, Ecatepec, and Tecámac are deploying separate security operations during the Easter holidays, which will last until April 12. The police mobilization, composed of thousands of officers and hundreds of patrol cars with the support of canine and equestrian units, will be deployed mainly in the valleys of Mexico and Toluca due to the significant increase in the influx of local, national, and international visitors to tourist centers, archaeological zones, beaches, dams, eco-parks, Magic Towns, and Towns with Charm, as well as in ceremonial centers and religious temples. The state government of Mexico stated that it will deploy a force of 1,682 officers, 400 barrier units, 25 canine teams, and an equal number of equestrian units to secure 132 tourist and recreational centers, as well as maintain a presence on 20 tourist routes on various highways and primary roads in the entity. State police will provide service in the vicinity of 4,651 religious centers, at 230 Stations of the Cross and 112 silent processions, where assistance will be provided to over 394,333 attendees. Additionally, proximity and prevention work will be carried out at over 6,000 ATMs. To assist visitors, two modules will be set up: one in Toluca, located at the Bicentennial Museum, and the other in Atlacomulco, near the El Cotecito toll plaza, under the “Hometown Heroes” program.
