Primary and secondary school students are one month away from starting to enjoy their first winter vacation within the 2024-2025 school cycle. The Secretary of Public Education (SEP) announced the dates when winter vacations will begin. The school calendar for 2024-2025 indicates that the first vacation period will start on Thursday, December 19, and end on Friday, January 3. The winter vacation will last nearly three weeks for basic education students, i.e., preschool, primary, and secondary.
As for the second vacation period, it will run from April 14 to April 25 of the same year. Regarding the three long weekends in November 2024, according to the SEP calendar, preschool, primary, and secondary students will have three long weekends throughout November. One of these long weekends will coincide with a public holiday marked by the Federal Labor Law, allowing both students and workers to enjoy a long weekend.
One of the long weekends will be on Monday, November 18, a date related to the commemoration of the anniversary of the Mexican Revolution on November 20, which will be moved to Monday so that both students and teachers can reflect on the importance of that holiday. On the other hand, Friday, November 22, is marked as a non-school day on the SEP calendar, as it is a day for grade recording, meaning only teachers will attend classrooms.
Although classes will not be suspended on Friday, November 29, as it is a festive day, the Technical School Council meeting will take place, where teachers and the director of the basic education school will gather to discuss educational situations and make decisions.
