
Rain accompanied by hail and thunderstorms is forecasted in the south of Campeche, Quintana Roo, and Yucatán. Additionally, winds with gusts of 40 to 60 km/h are expected, along with wave heights of 1 to 3 meters and the possible formation of waterspouts in Quintana Roo. Intense precipitation could cause flooding in low areas, increases in river and stream levels, overflow, and landslides, especially in southeastern Mexico.
According to the National Meteorological Service (SMN), tropical depression Sara is located on the border between Campeche and Guatemala, generating adverse weather conditions in the region. As of 15:00 (Central Mexico time), the center of the phenomenon was about 220 kilometers southeast of Sabancuy, Campeche, with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h, gusts up to 75 km/h, and moving west-northwest at a speed of 19 km/h.
Very heavy rainfall (50 to 75 mm) is being recorded in Tabasco, while heavy rainfall (25 to 50 mm) is expected in Yucatán. The influence of Sara is causing accumulations of 75 to 150 mm in Campeche, Chiapas, and Quintana Roo. Given this situation, authorities are calling on the population to stay informed through SMN alerts and to follow the recommendations of Civil Protection.
The alert remains active as tropical depression Sara continues its movement, and it is expected to continue affecting the southeast of the country with severe weather conditions.
