Alert for Strong Winds and Cold in CDMX

The Secretariat responsible for Civil Protection in Mexico City has issued a yellow alert for strong winds expected today in the boroughs of Iztapalapa, Milpa Alta, Tláhuac, Tlalpan, and Xochimilco, notifying that these winds are anticipated between 14:00 and 19:00 hours. To prevent any incidents, it is advised to avoid the use of scaffolding, going up to rooftops and cornices, as well as staying away from telephone poles and electrical wires.

Additionally, the Secretariat of Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection has activated two alerts for low temperatures in Mexico City, as well as for the strong winds expected on January 20 and 21. The orange alert for temperatures from 1 to 3 degrees Celsius will cover the boroughs of Magdalena Contreras, Milpa Alta, Tlalpan, and Xochimilco, while the yellow alert for temperatures from 4 to 6°C will extend to Álvaro Obregón, Cuajimalpa, and Tláhuac.

On Tuesday, January 21, even lower temperatures are expected, ranging from -5 to 0 degrees Celsius in the high areas of the State of Mexico, with cloudy skies and fog banks. On the other hand, a milder and warmer environment is expected in the State of Mexico and Mexico City, accompanied by overcast skies. The use of face masks is recommended, and the population is urged to stay alert for the possible fall of branches, trees, tarps, as well as objects on roads and highways due to the strong winds expected.
