Controversy Surrounds Sanatorio Trinidad After Allegations

The relatives of the patients at the Trinidad Sanatorium alerted about a possible masquerade that the officials of the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) were planning along with the hospital administrators. On the night of Friday the 17th, the order was given to transfer the sick to the San Luis Hospital and other centers in the area, as the hospital was supposed to be closed and not providing services due to the suspension and closure of the operating rooms where surgical procedures were still being performed.

According to what the relatives heard during the eviction, Cofepris authorities notified the administrators about the imminent closure of the Trinidad Sanatorium. Despite this, the following day the hospital remained open but was not offering services, except for dialysis. By the time the Cofepris officials arrived, there were no patients left in the facility.

Following the publication of complaints about the lack of medications, basic supplies, and mistreatment of medical staff by the current administration of the hospital, led by Adriana Beltrán Mallén and other doctors, a mobilization was triggered at the Sanatorium. During the eviction, the removal of medical equipment, boxes with compromising documents about surgeries and treatments carried out during the closure of the operating rooms, and the destruction of records was observed.

Former hospital workers, Beatriz Moreno and Angélica Clairín Pantoja, denounced the violence of the current administrators and expressed fear of reprisals. They claim that, in the event of suffering any action against them, they hold Adriana Mallén and the rest of the administration of the Trinidad Sanatorium responsible. For her part, the administrator justified the actions taken as part of a strategy to appear inactive in light of an upcoming review by Cofepris.
