A man was ejected from a car after a multiple collision on the Mexico-Toluca Highway heading towards Mexico City. The incident took place in the La Marquesa area, at kilometer 26, where at least four vehicles crashed before entering the tunnel that connects with the toll booth, resulting in a man being thrown onto the road.
Witnesses say that a driver was traveling at high speed in a downhill area, which caused him to encounter other cars moving at an appropriate speed when he reached a bumpy section. Apparently, he could not brake in time and crashed into the rear of a gray Toyota Avanza van, which then hit other vehicles ahead.
Due to not wearing a seatbelt, the ejected person from the impacted vehicle lost his life at the scene, while two individuals were injured and transported to nearby hospitals by personnel from the Mexican Red Cross. The Fire Department of Mexico City also arrived at the scene to assist in the rescue operations for the victims and to prevent further accidents as a result of the collision.
Currently, the number of lanes at kilometer 26 of the Mexico-Toluca Highway has been reduced due to the work to remove the vehicles involved in the crash.
