Urgent Neuro Surgery Needed for Autistic Teens

Ana María Orozco, ex-partner of retiring minister Genaro Góngora Pimentel, revealed that her sons, David, 17 years old, and Ulises, 19, need urgent neurosurgery to control aggression levels associated with their severe autism. According to a psychiatric medical report, the lives of the young men are in danger if they do not receive this treatment immediately.

Orozco reported that Góngora Pimentel has exercised vicarious violence against her and her children by refusing to fund the operation that would benefit the quality of life of the boys, despite having resources in bank accounts abroad. In light of this situation, Orozco asked the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) for authorization to carry out the surgical intervention.

The request for specialized neurosurgery, which involves the removal of a part of the brain lobe related to the aggression of David and Ulises, has faced bureaucratic obstacles that have delayed the process for more than two years. According to the medical report, the medications used so far have not managed to control the aggression of the young men, putting their physical integrity and that of their relatives at risk.

In a statement, the Children's Psychiatric Hospital indicated that the young men suffer from "pathological aggression refractory to treatment," which has led the ISSSTE Bioethics Committee to analyze the case. Following recent episodes of aggression, including one against teachers and schoolmates, Orozco has requested the urgent intervention of the head of ISSSTE, Martí Batres, to expedite the process and carry out the necessary operation.

It is worth noting that Ana María Orozco was incarcerated for a year on fraud charges when she sued Genaro Góngora Pimentel for child support for her children, who were minors at the time.
