In the last four days, authorities from the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) reported that 56 corpses were exhumed from eight clandestine graves on a property in the municipality of Casas Grandes, in Chihuahua. This discovery took place on a site known as 'El Willy', near the Ejido Ignacio Zaragoza.
During the work carried out by an interdisciplinary team from the FGE, skeletal remains were found in these clandestine graves. In one session, eight graves were located where two complete bodies, one incomplete body, 10 complete skeletal remains, and five incomplete remains were found.
Moreover, it was disclosed that during the operation led by the Local Search Commission, a total of 38 graves were found, which were processed by forensic experts, forensic anthropologists, agents from the Public Ministry, and elements of the State Investigation Agency. This operation was supported by the National Guard and the Mexican Army.
The human remains and evidence were packaged and transported to the Forensic Sciences laboratories in Ciudad Juárez to conduct anthropological medical studies to determine the causes and time of death, as well as to identify the victims.
According to the Attorney General's Office, in the previous days, skeletal remains, bodies, fired casings, and other elements were found in the clandestine graves. These findings are part of the issue of disappearances in Mexico, where organizations like Human Rights Watch point out the existence of thousands of clandestine graves and unidentified human remains, highlighting the magnitude of the crisis in the country. Official data indicates that more than 120,000 people are missing in Mexico, according to the National Register of Missing and Unlocated Persons (RNPDNO).
