A group of young people, part of a football team from San Luis Potosí, raised concerns after losing contact during a trip. Local and federal authorities launched a search operation after receiving reports about the group's disappearance, suggesting that the vehicle they were traveling in may have been intercepted by a criminal group.
The Attorney General's Office of San Luis Potosí opened an investigation to coordinate the search and location efforts for the young people. Hours later, a statement was issued informing that the football players had been found in Aguascalientes along with other passengers, all unharmed. Although no details were revealed about whether they were held for any crime, authorities confirmed that they were escorted back home under strict security measures.
Investigations are still ongoing to clarify what happened and determine if there is involvement of local criminal groups. Families expressed relief at the location of their loved ones, although the incident highlights challenges regarding public safety and the vulnerability of travelers in certain areas of the country.
The incident occurred on Saturday, January 25, when the young people disappeared while traveling along federal highway 49, near the borders between the states of Aguascalientes and Zacatecas.
