Free Virtual Workshop on Atopic Dermatitis

A free virtual workshop for patients with Atopic Dermatitis will take place on January 29 at 19:00. Tools will be provided to improve quality of life.

Atopic Dermatitis (AD) is a heterogeneous and complex disease, especially in its severe form, which requires a comprehensive analysis by a multidisciplinary team that includes dermatology, allergy, ophthalmology, psychiatry, and psychology, among other specialties. Catalina Rincón, a military dermatologist currently retired and former head of the first AD clinic at the Medical Specialties Unit (SEDENA), highlighted that this disease not only affects the skin but also limits the professional and productive development of individuals.

During the winter season, people living with AD may experience more aggressive flare-ups if they do not have adequate supervision and control by a certified dermatologist. This is why a free virtual workshop will be offered next Wednesday, January 29 at 19:00 to guide and teach patients how to care for their skin and acquire tools to help them manage their condition, improving their quality of life.

Dr. Susana Canalizo Almeida, president of the Mexican Foundation for Dermatology (FMD), emphasized the importance of a comprehensive and complete diagnosis in patients with AD. It is estimated that 40% of patients with a positive diagnosis present moderate to severe AD, affecting approximately 1 in 10 Mexicans. The symptoms of AD include dry, red skin with fissures and intense itching in the folding areas, which may be associated with allergic comorbidities and psychiatric problems.

Experts will provide guidance for skin care through this free workshop, which aims to provide valuable information to help patients with Atopic Dermatitis manage their condition effectively and improve their quality of life.
