KIA Mexico Issues Recall for Safety Inspection

KIA Mexico has issued a recall for 6,473 vehicles of the Niro HEV, Niro Plus HEV -PBV, Telluride ON, and Stinger CK models due to potential issues that could compromise safety and functionality. This problem may cause failures in the turbocharger, so the company will inspect the affected components and replace them if necessary.

According to KIA's statement, the Stinger CK model (2018 to 2023) has a total of 612 vehicles that may exhibit oil leakage in the turbocharger's feed hose and pipe. There is also a risk that the fuses of the hydraulic clutch actuator (HCA) could short circuit, which would illuminate a warning indicator on the dashboard.

Regarding the actions to be taken, KIA reported that it will contact the owners of the affected vehicles through various channels, such as email, WhatsApp, authorized dealers, and the MyKia+ application. The company will replace the side covers of the front seats if required.

The Niro HEV model (2016 to 2022) is the most affected, with 5,611 vehicles involved. To resolve the issue, KIA will inspect the HCA and, if necessary, perform a software update, in addition to replacing the fuses and actuator harness.

In the case of the Telluride ON model (2020 to 2024) with 250 units at risk, the rear cover of the electric seat switch could detach under considerable external force, which could cause an internal misalignment in the seat motor control switch, resulting in involuntary continuous movement that could affect driving.

To ensure user safety, Profeco will supervise compliance with this alert and is available to consumers through its official telephone lines and social media for any questions or complaints.
