Maribel Guardia has expressed her concern about the situation regarding the custody of her grandson, José Julián. Although the child is currently under the care of his grandmother and Maribel's husband, the actress maintains that the little boy should be with his mother, Imelda, who needs to go through a detoxification process. Maribel has offered help to Imelda on multiple occasions, suggesting she enter a rehabilitation center, but Imelda has refused to accept that she has problems.

The actress states that she has never spoken ill of Imelda in front of José Julián and that they even pray for her daily. Maribel Guardia detected Imelda's alleged addiction problems after a shocking incident where the child found strangers in bed with his mother, which led Maribel to take action.

The main reason that led Maribel Guardia to file a complaint against Imelda Tuñón was the latter's inability to adequately care for her child due to her addiction problems. Despite Imelda posting toxicology test results on social media to prove that she does not use drugs, Maribel will continue caring for the child for at least 90 more days while the investigation stemming from the complaint is completed.

Maribel Guardia mentions that she placed cameras in her home and observed how Imelda received packages in the early morning that supposedly contained drugs. Despite her concern and attempts to offer help to Imelda, the latter refuses to admit her addiction problems, further complicating the situation. Maribel hopes that Imelda can rehabilitate and provide the proper care that her son needs.
