The Attorney General's Office of Tabasco reported that it has initiated an investigation into the events that occurred inside the Social Reintegration Center of the State of Tabasco (CRESET) in Villahermosa, where seven deaths were recorded. Coordination is being established with the Tabasco Security Council.
At noon, the head of the Attorney General's Office, José Barajas Mejía, entered the heavily guarded place while elements of the Army and the National Guard set up a cordon around the building and removed family members and onlookers. Carlos Tomás “N” or “Lic Tomasín,” the alleged leader of the criminal group “La Barredora,” is detained in this penitentiary.
During the morning, a man was found executed in the municipality of Centro, and a shootout occurred in Villa Ocuiltzapotlín. Although it cannot be said that they are directly related, it coincided with the swearing-in of the new commander of the 30th Military Zone, Miguel Ángel López Martínez, who took command in place of Héctor Francisco Morán González.
This is the second confrontation that has occurred in the Villahermosa prison during Javier May Rodríguez's administration. In a previous event in December 2024, a riot was recorded with seven dead and 10 injured, including police officers. This new uprising began with gunfire, with the inmates themselves sending photos and videos of the event.
