The Institute for Guanajuatense Women (IMUG) and the transportation company Uber have signed a cooperation agreement to offer free rides in seven municipalities of the state. The main objective of this agreement is to facilitate access for women, adolescents, and girls to justice centers, hospitals, prosecutors' offices, and shelters, ensuring their mobility in times of crisis.
The head of IMUG, Itzel Balderas Hernández, detailed that a fund has been established for transfers throughout 2025. To request this Uber service, the number 075 has been enabled or via Whatsapp at 4731640369. The municipalities benefiting from this agreement are: León, Irapuato, Celaya, Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Salamanca, and San Miguel de Allende.
This agreement will allow women in risky situations to be transported to strategic places such as the State Attorney General's Office, the Women's Justice Center, hospitals, women's organizations, or Public Safety facilities.
Uber will generate promotional codes as part of the agreement, which will be distributed exclusively by the IMUG to women victims of violence. For its part, the institute will keep a detailed record of dates, locations, and individuals benefiting from these transfers, ensuring proper use of the service.
According to Balderas Hernández, this agreement will enable "women, adolescents, and girls to be transported for free when they need to report any type of violence, receive medical attention, or leave a risky environment." The implementation of this safe transport represents a fundamental step in the strategy to provide immediate support to those in need.
