The Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE), in collaboration with the Ministry of Welfare and IMSS Wellbeing, has begun the implementation of the program "The Clinic is Ours." This program aims not only to encourage community participation but also to promote transparency, stimulate the local economy, and strengthen preventive care in the health system.
In this regard, community assemblies will be held on February 15 to involve beneficiaries in the process. During these assemblies, members of the Health and Welfare Committees (COSABI) will be elected, which will oversee the use of resources and the execution of works. These committees will consist of a president, a treasurer, a technical secretary, a member, and a citizen guarantor.
One of the main objectives of the program is to improve and equip the 565 primary care medical units. ISSSTE affiliates will have the opportunity to propose and decide on specific projects for their clinics, such as medical equipment, furniture, and infrastructure. Options include improvements to physical infrastructure, from the appearance of the health unit to finishes, water wells, outdoor roofing, and perimeter walls. Active community participation becomes fundamental in this decision-making process to ensure better health service in the ISSSTE facilities.
