Parents Arrested for Attempted Homicide of Newborn

The Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) executed arrest warrants against Diana Jaciel “N” and Lucio David “N,” the parents of the newborn baby who was abandoned in a public area of Tultitlán on February 11. Both are accused of their probable participation in the crime of attempted homicide against their own child.

After becoming aware of the case, agents conducted investigations and collected the statement from Diana Jaciel “N,” who initially voluntarily reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office to denounce her partner, Lucio David “N,” for abandoning the baby. Subsequently, Lucio David “N” voluntarily presented himself to the Attorney General's Office of Mexico City, which informed FGJEM.

Agents from the Edoméx Prosecutor's Office traveled to the Cuauhtémoc II Decentralized Prosecutor's Office in Mexico City to transfer Lucio David “N” to the Justice Center for Women in Cuautitlán Izcalli, where he provided his statement. Based on the data obtained, the State of Mexico Prosecutor's Office requested and obtained arrest warrants against both parents from the Judicial Authority.

Lucio David “N” was admitted to the Cuautitlán Penitentiary and Reintegration Center, while Diana Jaciel “N” was transferred to the Tlalnepantla Prison. Both individuals are at the disposal of the Judicial Authority, which will determine their legal situation.

According to reports from local media, the baby is hospitalized at the Bicentennial Independence Regional Specialty Hospital of ISSSTE in Tultitlán and is reported to be out of danger with stable vital signs and in good general physical condition.

According to the principle of presumption of innocence, they are considered innocent until a conviction is handed down against them.
