The Federal Consumer Prosecutor's Office (Profeco) and Toyota Motor Sales of Mexico have announced a recall of three vehicle models due to warnings of resistance and moisture leakage, as well as to prevent thermal risks. The affected models are the 2022-2023 Hybrid Tundra, 2023 Avanza, and 2024 Tacoma.
According to Profeco, in the case of the Hybrid Tundra, 575 units have been identified with thermal risk, as the plastic fuel tube could shift and cause a fuel leak by rubbing against a brake line. This situation could trigger the check engine light or affect the operation of the active grille shutter, compromising vehicle components.
In the case of the 2023 Avanza, 493 units have been detected with resistance problems in the weld of the side impact beam on the right door, which could affect its original operation. As a corrective measure, a support will be installed on the right front door to ensure the proper functioning of the beam.
On the other hand, the recall for the 2024 Tacoma model covers 386 units due to possible variations in the size of the seal, which could cause water or humidity leakage in a connector of the active grille shutter of the grille.
Toyota is committed to contacting the owners of the affected vehicles to inform them about the inspection process. The company will carry out the necessary inspections and, if required, will make the corresponding adjustments or replacements to ensure the safety and proper functioning of the vehicles.
For any additional information, Toyota can be contacted through its website, phone number, or provided email, while Profeco will be monitoring compliance with these alerts and offering its Consumer Phone for inquiries or reports.
