A cold front is bringing rain and snowfall to various regions of Mexico, including temperatures dropping to -15°C in mountainous areas. Heavy rains are forecast for the Yucatán Peninsula and other states this weekend.

This weekend a change in climatic conditions is expected in several regions of Mexico, with rain and extreme temperatures. The presence of snow and sleet is predicted in mountainous areas such as Pico de Orizaba, Popocatépetl, Iztaccíhuatl, Sierra Negra, and Nevado de Toluca.

On February 22, heavy rain is anticipated in states such as Veracruz (south), Campeche, and Quintana Roo, with possible showers in Chiapas, Tabasco, Yucatán, Tamaulipas, Michoacán, Hidalgo, State of Mexico, Tlaxcala, Puebla, Guerrero, and Oaxaca. In other areas of the country such as Durango, Chihuahua, and Baja California, minimum temperatures below zero with frosts are expected.

Regarding Sunday, February 23, Cold Front number 28 will remain stationary in the Yucatán Peninsula, causing more rain. Showers and heavy rainfall are predicted in the northeast, east, southeast, and Yucatán Peninsula, as well as the persistence of a cold environment in various regions. Furthermore, an intense 'North' event is expected to arrive on the coast of Veracruz and the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, as well as in the northwest, center, and west of the Gulf of Mexico.

Humidity from the Pacific, along with atmospheric instability, will lead to more rain and showers in the west, center, and south of Mexico, especially in Tabasco, Chiapas, Yucatán, Quintana Roo, Veracruz, Oaxaca, and Campeche.

The National Meteorological Service also forecasts very low temperatures with frosts for various mountainous areas in different states of the country on Saturday and Sunday.
