The governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, highlighted the importance of public safety in the perception of the population, citing a local survey in which 50% of citizens identified insecurity as the main problem in the region. The survey results also showed other concerns such as public transportation, violence against women, water scarcity, unemployment, corruption, pollution, and health.
Regarding the expectations of citizens concerning his administration, García presented a list of the top 10 requests to the governor, led by security, followed by the completion of works, improvements in public transportation, solutions for traffic and roadways, fulfillment of promises, and transparency in accountability.
The governor emphasized the efforts made in the area of security, mentioning the creation of the New Civil Force, investment in the Air Division, and in equipment such as helicopters, Blackhawks, and armored units. García stressed the importance of investing in public safety as a demand not only from Trump but also from the people of Nuevo León.
Although he acknowledged that threats of tariffs from Trump may be unpleasant, García argued that security is a primary issue that influences economic and commercial aspects. According to the governor, the measures taken by the U.S. president are based on the perception that Mexico is not effectively combating organized crime and drug trafficking, which would justify the tariff threats.
Amid the controversy generated by Trump's policies, García pointed out that public safety remains the central focus of both the population's concerns and the demands of the U.S. president, emphasizing the need to address this issue in a comprehensive manner to ensure the well-being and tranquility of society.
