The Morena bench in Nuevo León, as well as the entire technical committee of the party, issued a request to Governor Samuel García to ensure the state joins the IMSS Bienestar program. "We are talking about not politicizing and that’s what we are here to do; we cannot spare time and effort to try to provide a health service that is universal. No one can be denied this right... Nuevo León and the governor have made important advances, but we recognize that it is not enough and we cannot disregard federal support. Ultimately, this will depend on the local and federal executive," said Pámanes.
Morena took advantage of a moment of good alignment between Governor Samuel García and President Claudia Sheinbaum to bring the issue back into discussion; however, MC does not have on its agenda to concede a large part of the operation of the health sector. In the voting, the absence of Miguel Flores, who is closest to the Palacio de Cantera, was also noted, as there are still doubts from the executive regarding the benefits of joining a system that is overwhelmed in the rest of the republic, in addition to the fact that the transition would last up to a year.
"What guarantees us that hospitals and clinics will have enough if the other states that did sign the agreements with IMSS Bienestar do not cover the medicines or supplies? The PAN will vote against; we cannot let the hospitals pass to the federal government given the precedent of other states." Health has become a privilege, and even a business, more than a right... there are always challenges and deficiencies, considering that Mexico is one of the countries that collects the least taxes... the solution to the problem of healthcare requires coordination," said the deputy.
On the opposition side, the PAN deputy, Itzel Castillo, and the PRI legislator, Gabriela Govea, stated that the reflection of the 4T program in the rest of the country is not favorable and the benches voted against the request. "Much more is needed than just good intentions," added the PRI member who is also a doctor.
Meanwhile, MC in Congress reiterated its alignment with the 4T, as deputy Sandra Pámanes expressed support for Morena's initiative. Although she made it clear that, regardless of the vote, the decision will be up to Governor Samuel García. "If they had enough, we would be in favor, but we see with firm sadness that this is not the case," said the PAN member. This was rejected by the PRI-PAN.
Legislator Jesús Elizondo was the one who made the call in the chamber, claiming that it is not a partisan issue, but aimed at addressing the deficiencies in the area within the entity. "There are many deficiencies; it is not a matter of colors, all hospitals have areas of opportunity, many of us receive requests for medicines and even surgeries.
