Authorities have decided to take measures to reinforce security on the Mexico-Puebla highway after a driver reported being attacked with a stone in the La María area. As part of these actions, the installation of at least 200 surveillance cameras along the highway has been proposed, which will be connected to the C5 to enable real-time monitoring of the road.
The Secretary of Security, Francisco Sánchez González, has highlighted the collaboration with the National Guard to improve surveillance on the roads and ensure the protection of users. Despite having implemented patrols in the area after the incident, those responsible for the stone-throwing attack have still not been identified.
Additionally, efforts are being made in coordination with the municipal police of Amozoc, Tecamachalco, and Esperanza to reinforce security along the entire stretch of the highway. The cabinet coordinator, José Luis García Parra, has reported that these measures aim to prevent and address crimes, especially the recent stone attacks that have affected drivers in the area.
In a recent meeting, authorities from Capufe, the Secretariat of the Navy, the National Guard, and Sedena agreed to the installation of the surveillance cameras, which will be funded by the state government. Joint operations have been carried out with security authorities to ensure the protection of users of the highway and to prioritize addressing this concerning situation.
