The Secretary of Public Education (SEP), Mario Delgado Carrillo, during the Fifth Ordinary Session of the Technical School Council (CTE), emphasized that the implementation of the New Mexican School (NEM) aims to shape a generation that is aware, humanistic, and free from addictions. Under the direction of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the goal is to promote a healthy lifestyle through teachers with teaching autonomy.
In a message directed at educational agents, Delgado Carrillo announced the national strategy 'Live Healthy, Live Happy,' which will begin on March 12 in public primary schools. This initiative will involve specialist brigades to conduct a weight and height census, detect nutritional imbalances, and promote the well-being of students.
The head of the SEP emphasized that the ban on the sale of junk food and sugary drinks in schools will begin on March 29. Furthermore, there is an emphasis on addiction prevention, providing educational material to both secondary school teachers and families.
Delgado Carrillo underscored the importance of maintaining safety in schools and timely detecting bullying behaviors. Additionally, dialogue with those who engage in bullying has been prioritized, with the aim of raising awareness about the impact of their actions.
Moreover, it was highlighted that the delivery of the 'Rita Cetina' scholarships to more than 5 million secondary students will conclude in March, ensuring access to education. Assemblies with mothers, fathers, and teachers in schools benefited by the program 'The School is Ours' are also in progress.
