New social program 'Listo Jalisco' will benefit students

The governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus, has announced the implementation of the new social program "Listo Jalisco," which will start in 2025 and benefit more than 1 million students. The main objective of this program is to ensure comprehensive and efficient educational development for students of basic education in the state, covering preschool, primary, and secondary education. This project has an initial investment exceeding 730 million pesos and also focuses on promoting sports and combating school dropout rates.

In the current school year, Jalisco registered 1 million 618 thousand 112 students in basic education. Awaiting data updates from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography, during the previous school year (2024-2024) there were 1 million 592 thousand 159 students, distributed among preschool, primary, and secondary schools.

"Listo Jalisco" aims to primarily combat school dropout rates by providing students with school supplies that include backpacks, school materials, sports uniforms, and sneakers. The program seeks to ensure that students have the necessary tools for their academic development, in addition to supporting Jalisco families and reducing inequalities, strengthening equal opportunities in education.

During his political campaign for the governorship of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus mentioned that if elected, he would continue and improve the distribution of school kits, which will be realized with the implementation of "Listo Jalisco." The distribution of school packages for students of basic education is expected to begin at the end of May, according to information provided by the Social Development Coordinator of the Government of Jalisco, Andrea Blanco Calderón.
