The Catholic Church in Mexico has recognized a growing crisis in the family structure of the country and has made an urgent call to strengthen values within the home. According to an editorial from the weekly "Desde la Fe", the institution alerted about the negative impact of individualism and social division on Mexican families, which is weakening the social fabric and exacerbating issues such as violence, depression, and social fragmentation.
The Primatial Archdiocese of Mexico emphasized that the family is the fundamental nucleus of society and that its deterioration has direct repercussions on the increase of violence, murders, polarization, and mental health problems, such as depression and suicide. "We cannot ignore that the family crisis is also a crisis of society. When family ties fracture, solidarity fades, commitment dissolves, and the community fragments," the church warned.
The Catholic weekly also recalled the words of Pope Francis, who has insisted that the family is the first space where we learn to love and should remain away from selfishness and the culture of disaster. The Church emphasized that the family crisis is not just an isolated problem but affects community commitment and solidarity among citizens.
In the face of this situation, the Church proposed two concrete actions to combat the family crisis: strengthening communication and dialogue within homes, and fostering a culture of service and commitment. Additionally, it insisted that the family is not only a space for personal growth but also a center for evangelization and social commitment.
This call comes in a context of growing concern about violence in Mexico, highlighting the importance of restoring family values to address the social challenges the country is facing.
