Insecurity in Mexico affects everyone, including players in Liga MX, as recently happened to Nicolás Fonseca of Club León. The footballer was a victim of an assault by armed men while heading to his team's training, losing his car in the process. Reports have emerged that James Rodríguez may have requested to leave the team for safety reasons.

According to reports, Nicolás Fonseca was not only stripped of his belongings but was also temporarily kidnapped and released a few hours later in a deserted area. During the kidnapping, the assailants asked the Uruguayan footballer to obtain signed shirts from James Rodríguez if he wanted to recover his truck.

In response to speculation about James Rodríguez's possible departure from Liga MX, León's coach, Eduardo Berizzo, denied the rumors and stated that the Colombian player remains committed to the team. Berizzo also mentioned that James had a supportive gesture by contacting Nicolás Fonseca to offer his support and that at no time did he ask for anything, calling the reports false.
