Mexico City Enhances Traffic Safety Measures

The Undersecretary of Traffic Control of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City has announced the configuration and adjustment of speed radars located on seven roadways in the boroughs of Álvaro Obregón, Coyoacán, Tlalpan, Xochimilco, and Iztacalco. Since December 2024, the personnel of the agency has been working on these adjustments, which has sometimes resulted in the radars emitting a constant flash.

"The Undersecretary of Traffic Control of the SSC works to strengthen road safety and improve technological tools that allow us to promote more orderly and safe traffic for everyone, which is why we thank the patience and understanding of the citizens during this adjustment process," the authorities concluded.

Although a flash is emitted, the SSC clarified that this does not mean that a sanction has been generated, as it is part of the testing and technical adjustments to verify the correct functioning of the radars. The purpose of these adjustments is to ensure that speed measurements are accurate and to prevent errors in the issuance of fines.

The locations where the radar adjustments are being made are at the intersections of Adolfo López Mateos and 11th of April Street in the 8th of August neighborhood, Periférico Ring and Giotto Street in the Alfonso XIII neighborhood, Periférico Ring and Picacho-Ajusco Highway in the Jardines del Pedregal neighborhood, Periférico Ring and Zacatepetl Avenue in the Insurgentes Cuicuilco neighborhood, Periférico Ring and Río Ventura Street in the Coapa Guadalupe neighborhood, Río de la Piedad Viaduct and 3rd Street in the Ignacio Zaragoza neighborhood, as well as in Prolongación División del Norte and México Avenue in the San Marcos neighborhood.

The SSC has provided this information to avoid confusion among drivers and to ensure the proper functioning of the speed radars.
