Edith Márquez Opens Up About Bullying in Timbiriche

The singer and songwriter Edith Márquez recently revealed details about her experience in the children's band Timbiriche in an interview. Edith was part of Timbiriche from 1988 to 1991. During that time, she recorded three albums, including VIII and 10. Although the band was a milestone in pop music, Edith confessed that not all of her memories with the group are positive.

In a chat on the morning show "Sale el Sol", Edith shared that she was the target of teasing from her peers in Timbiriche. The singer described that time as very difficult for her, mentioning that the jokes and comments in the group, where there was so much talent and strong personalities, often resulted in hurtful feelings.

Edith explained that the negative comments directed at her focused on her economic situation, mocking her clothing and where she shopped. The singer recalled phrases like "Here comes the little clown from the supermarket" or "She has no money", which made her feel looked down upon by the rest of the group. According to her, all of this was due to the lack of maturity at that time, given that all Timbiriche members were teenagers.

In another interview with journalist Maxine Woodside, Edith mentioned that she believed the teasing came from her being new in the band. Despite those difficult moments, the singer acknowledged that that stage helped her learn and grow. In Edith's words, the members of Timbiriche were great teachers when it came to stepping onto important stages.
