The Mexican Association of Innovative Medical Device Industries (AMID) has appointed Carlos Escobar as its new president for the period 2025-2027 during its Ordinary General Assembly. AMID presents itself as a strategic ally for the health sector, covering more than 75 medical specialties and with a market value exceeding 100 billion pesos.
At the ceremonial event, Altagracia Gómez, Coordinator of the Regional Economic Development and Relocation Advisory Council (CADERR), and Ana Riquelme, Executive Director of AMID, concluded the day by highlighting the potential of the medical device industry for economic development and job creation in Mexico, which translates into significant improvements in the quality of life for Mexicans.
In the new Board of Directors of AMID for the 2025-2027 period, Carlos Escobar was appointed president, Joao Carapeto as first vice president, Patricia Nakagawa as second vice president, and Carlos Jiménez as treasurer. The management will focus on four fundamental pillars: collaboration with the government, innovation and equitable access, ethics and competitiveness, as well as dynamic regulation.
During the event, the challenges and opportunities of the sector were discussed with the participation of various personalities, such as Eduardo Clark, Undersecretary of Sectoral Integration of the Ministry of Health, and Emmanuel Reyes Carmona, senator and president of the Economy Commission. Carlos Escobar emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government, the private sector, and academia to generate reliable data that drives effective public policies.
The new president pledged to represent the 48 global companies affiliated with AMID, working together with government authorities and industry organizations to strengthen the health ecosystem for the benefit of the Mexican population. He emphasized that the well-being of patients will be the key indicator of collaboration between the government and the private sector.
