The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, announced a new social program aimed at families of children with cancer. This program will provide support of 6,400 pesos, which will be deposited through Well-being cards. It is estimated that nearly 3,000 children with cancer who do not have social security will benefit from this assistance.
The Undersecretary of Integration and Development of the Ministry of Health, Eduardo Clark, explained that the support will be direct through a card from the Bank of Well-being, as long as the child is in treatment at a public institution.
Unlike other Well-being programs, in this case, the IMSS-Well-being hospitals and the National Institutes that care for children with cancer will create a list of beneficiaries in March. In April, the Ministry of Well-being will begin registering the parents and guardians of the children to provide them with the Bank of Well-being cards so they can receive the support.
The goal is for the support of 6,400 pesos to start being disbursed from April. To ensure continuity in the program, an updating process will be carried out as new children enter oncological treatment.
Eduardo Clark mentioned that 50% of the resources to finance this support comes from private initiative initiatives in Mexico, while the rest will be covered by the Ministry of Well-being through the Well-being Card.
