The cold front season continues in Mexico, with heavy rains in several states and the arrival of high temperatures exceeding 35 degrees in 14 entities.

The National Water Commission (Conagua) reported that the effects of cold front number 31 will extend over the eastern Gulf of Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula, causing heavy rains, thunderstorms, and possible hail in Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Tabasco. The accompanying cold air mass will promote a decrease in temperatures in the northeast and east of the country, as well as 'Norte' events with wind gusts of up to 80 km/h in Veracruz and 40 to 60 km/h in Tabasco, Campeche, and Yucatan.

The first heat wave of 2025 is expected to be felt in Jalisco, Michoacan, Guerrero, Morelos, and ten other entities, with temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius. It is expected that the anticyclonic circulation at mid-levels will maintain a warm to hot environment across much of the country.

In addition, a new cold front is expected to enter over Baja California, generating wind gusts of 50 to 70 km/h and dust storms in the northwest and north of the country, as well as rain and high waves on the western coast of the Baja California Peninsula.

For Wednesday, March 5, strong showers are forecasted in Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Tabasco, and showers and intervals of rain in other entities such as Baja California, Puebla, Quintana Roo, State of Mexico, Tlaxcala, and Campeche. On the other hand, high temperatures are expected in several northern entities of the country, reaching up to 40 degrees Celsius.

In the Valley of Mexico, a cool to mild environment is expected in the morning and warm to hot in the afternoon, with minimums of 10 to 12 degrees and maximums of 28 to 30 degrees Celsius. For the weekend, the arrival of cold front number 32 is anticipated, with strong winds, a drop in temperature, and showers in various regions of the country with the possibility of snow or sleet in specific mountain ranges.

March has brought with it the start of the sultry season and abrupt changes in temperature in various parts of Mexico.
