Since 2022, the operation of SOS Mujeres *765 has assisted 17,251 women in situations related to gender-based violence in Mexico City. This work is carried out in collaboration with various entities, including the Secretariats for Women, Citizen Security, the Attorney General's Office of the capital, and the Citizen Council for Security and Justice. Salvador Guerrero Chiprés, General Coordinator of C5, noted that users of this line mainly seek support for assaults, legal guidance that involves referrals to Locatel, and sexual harassment.
In addition to SOS Mujeres *765 and 911, the Command Center provides assistance to women through 089 for anonymous reports and the Anti-Extortion Line 55 5036 3301. Guerrero Chiprés highlighted that women are more vulnerable to victimization, as in four out of five cases, the aggressors are men. According to processed data, 24.2% of female requests are for services, 14.3% for civic offenses, 13.3% for medical emergencies, and 12.1% for emergencies.
In response to this situation, and by instruction from the head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, the gender perspective has been incorporated into C5 through the use of "technological violet glasses," which allow for an equal and substantive approach to the issue of violence against women. This approach seeks to comprehensively address this structural problem.
Regarding the distribution of reports from women in Mexico City, the neighborhoods with the highest number of reports in the Cuauhtémoc borough are Doctores, Guerrero, and Morelos, while in Venustiano Carranza, Moctezuma Segunda Sección, Morelos, and Jardín Balbuena stand out. In Benito Juárez, the areas with the most reports are Portales Norte, Narvarte Oriente, and Álamos.
Women mainly call 911 to report assaults in public spaces, excessive noise, gender-based or domestic violence, according to the first breakdown of emergency data conducted by C5 in Mexico City. In the period from November to February, 46.1% of reports to 911 were made by women.
The boroughs with the highest rate of reports per 100,000 inhabitants are Cuauhtémoc, Venustiano Carranza, Benito Juárez, Miguel Hidalgo, and Iztacalco. The data also shows that 33.6% of low-impact crimes are reported by women, compared to 27.8% of men. Among the neighborhoods with the most reports are Anáhuac I Sección, Escandon I Sección, and Tacuba in the Miguel Hidalgo borough.
