Demand for Justice Grows in Teuchitlán

Mothers Searching for the Disappeared of Jalisco have made a chilling discovery at the Izaguirre ranch, located in Teuchitlán, Jalisco. The group found at least three clandestine ovens, which are presumed to have been used to cremate at least 200 people, after discovering 400 shoes at the site.

Virginia Ponce, the group's coordinator, expressed her concern over the lack of follow-up by authorities in cases like this. According to Ponce, the discovery at Izaguirre ranch evidences the magnitude of the disappearance problem in the region, pointing out that this is not the only site where such evidence has been found.

Among the items found, there were notebooks with nicknames and places of origin of individuals from different states. The Mothers Searching for the Disappeared of Jalisco have shared these images on social media in the hope that the families of the missing may recognize the belongings.

One of the most heart-wrenching findings was a letter written by a young man to his partner, in which he said goodbye with a touching message. Additionally, a white suit stained with blood was discovered, increasing the worry and uncertainty of families searching for their loved ones.

Ponce also questioned the results of a search carried out by the state prosecutor's office at the Izaguirre ranch about five months ago, during which no clandestine ovens or the clothing now discovered were found. The group is asking authorities to allow them to work at the site to expedite the search and identification process for the belongings.

Amid growing uncertainty, families of the disappeared have turned to the group to try to identify the found belongings. Many people have recognized items and requested support, but since the property is under the protection of authorities, the Mothers Searching for the Disappeared of Jalisco cannot carry out additional activities at the site.
