Frost Predicted in Several Regions of Mexico

According to meteorological forecasts, frost is expected in various regions of Mexico, including the State of Mexico, Chihuahua, Durango, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Zacatecas, and Puebla. It is warned that temperatures could drop to -15 °C, posing a risk to both health and infrastructure.

In light of these adverse climatic conditions, authorities have issued a series of recommendations to mitigate the effects of the cold. The population is advised to dress adequately in several layers of clothing, avoid sudden temperature changes, keep enclosed spaces ventilated if using heaters or stoves, and to specifically protect children, the elderly, and people with chronic illnesses, who are more vulnerable to the cold. It is also urged to stay informed through official channels and report any emergency to 911 or local authorities.

On the other hand, the cold front is expected to generate intense rains in the southeast of the country and strong winds in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, so extreme precautions are recommended in those regions. In Mexico City, the Ministry of Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection activated the Yellow Alert due to the forecast of low temperatures for the dawn of Monday, March 10. The municipalities most affected are expected to be Milpa Alta and Tlalpan, with lows between 4 and 6 degrees Celsius.

These unfavorable climatic conditions are caused by the advance of cold front number 33, which will also cause frosts in the State of Mexico and some other entities in the country. A marked drop in temperatures is expected, especially in mountainous areas, as a result of the polar air mass associated with this meteorological phenomenon.
