In the Santo Tomás Ajusco town, in the Tlalpan municipality, authorities secured a property where wood was being processed without the corresponding permits. All the material and machinery found on site are under the custody of the authorities.
The operation took place in a Storage and Transformation Center for Forest Raw Materials, located on Privada Xicomoxotla. Authorities from Mexico City and the federal government participated against illegal logging in the capital to protect the conservation soil, crucial for the recharge of aquifers.
Specialized machinery was identified on site, such as a tower with two pulleys of 0.65 meters, a push cart with two brackets measuring one meter long by 0.40 meters high, a band saw, and a 15 hp three-phase motor. The seized machinery and wood were transferred to the facilities of the Commission of Natural Resources and Rural Development in the Pueblo of San Luis Tlaxialtemalco, Xochimilco, for custody.
In addition to Sedema, elements of the Citizen Security Secretariat, Federal Environmental Protection Prosecutor's Office, National Defense Secretariat, National Guard, and staff from the Tlalpan municipality participated in the operation.
Regarding forest raw materials, 14 logs of Oyamel wood in green physical condition were found, with a total volume of 2.9825 cubic meters.
Processed forest products were also located, such as poles, beams, and various boards of different sizes. Regarding pine wood, 74 boards were identified with a volume of 0.925 cubic meters, in addition to 20 boards 30 centimeters wide, totaling 1.3 cubic meters. 14 Oyamel logs were confiscated, equivalent to almost three cubic meters, along with poles, beams, and boards of various sizes.
The individuals present at the site could not prove the legality of the wood nor had the necessary permits to operate the Storage Center.
