Horrific Discoveries at Ranch in Teuchitlán

Photojournalist Ulises Ruiz Basurto shared his experience accompanying the Search Warriors of Jalisco in locating human remains and clandestine crematories at the Izaguirre ranch in the municipality of Teuchitlán, Jalisco. The ranch had previously been intervened by the Prosecutor's Office and the National Guard without success in detecting these evidences.

Ruiz Basurto recounted that during his accompaniment of the searchers in their daily task, they arrived at the ranch located on a dirt road in Teuchitlán. At the site, they discovered clandestine ovens with human remains burned under the ground, about 40 centimeters deep.

The photojournalist questioned the actions of the authorities after the initial intervention in September, which resulted in the detention of individuals but did not find more evidence. According to him, the lack of follow-up and proper investigation demonstrated negligence on the part of the authorities.

Ruiz Basurto highlighted the importance of this finding as evidence of the existence of extermination centers in Mexico and pointed out that it shows these places are known to the authorities. In addition, he lamented the lack of empathy from society towards the victims of disappearance, criticizing the tendency to stigmatize those who have disappeared involuntarily.

During the exploration of the ranch, rooms were found with numerous personal belongings, such as clothing, footwear, hygiene items, and even notebooks with lists of nicknames and expense records. Also discovered were metal plates for shooting practice and a warehouse where presumably people slept in inhumane conditions.
