Sheinbaum Announces National Consultations for Women's Rights

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced at her morning press conference that in the coming days she will invite the head of the Ministry of Women, Citlalli Hernández, to present the national consultation program to eradicate violence against women in the country. This announcement comes after, last Saturday in commemoration of International Women's Day, she revealed 10 actions that she will implement during her term to prioritize equity and respect for women's rights, with the tenth action being the consultations.

Sheinbaum Pardo mentioned that starting this week, forums and consultations will begin across Mexico to determine future actions that will lead to constitutional reforms in favor of women. The goal is for citizens to actively participate in addressing these issues from a perspective close to the people and that addresses the priorities of women.

During her speech on Saturday, the president emphasized her goal of giving women a leading role in public life, stating: "There are women presidents across the country; every woman is a president of the United Mexican States." Emphasizing this point, she affirmed that women have the right to a free and full life, as well as the right to dream, and that is the role of the Government. She reminded that since the beginning of her term, a constitutional reform in favor of women's rights was sent.

Sheinbaum Pardo concluded her speech with a strong message against violence towards women, declaring: "Not one more femicide, not one more hit, not one more violent treatment or word against Mexican women."
