INAI Orders ISSSTE to Provide Medical Information

The National Institute of Transparency has ordered ISSSTE to provide details on unfulfilled prescriptions and average wait times for medical appointments. This decision follows a citizen's request that revealed gaps in the provided information.

INAI Orders ISSSTE to Provide Medical Information

The National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Personal Data Protection (INAI) has established that the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) must provide data on the number of prescriptions and medications that were not supplied between January 1 and December 19, 2024. Additionally, information about the reasons for this impediment and the average time for assigning appointments to beneficiaries is required.

During the initial request submitted by a citizen, the ISSSTE only shared a link to review a "Report on medical prescriptions issued and effectively supplied to patients." However, it is worth mentioning that this report did not contain information about the reasons that led to certain prescriptions not being fulfilled.

In light of this disparity between what was required and what was provided, the citizen filed a review resource with the INAI. During the evaluation of the case, Commissioner Norma Julieta del Río confirmed the lack of data regarding the prescriptions and medications not supplied during the mentioned period of 2024.

Furthermore, it was found that the ISSSTE had not provided details about the average time for medical attention. As a result, the INAI Plenary, unanimously, has ruled that the ISSSTE must carry out a new thorough and reasonable search for the requested information, as well as provide clear answers to each of the requests made by the applicant.
