Identification of Possible Victims in Jalisco

The Secretary of Government of Querétaro, Carlos Alcaraz, acknowledged that there are indications of at least one possible victim originally from Querétaro among the findings at the Izaguirre ranch in Teuchitlán, Jalisco. According to Alcaraz, the National Search Commission notified his office about the possibility that the remains found at the site may belong to individuals from different entities, including Querétaro.

Alcaraz pointed out that the investigation and identification work is ongoing, urging patience to confirm the information based on scientific evidence. "So far, we have only some indications of a possible identity; however, actions need to be strengthened and this must be, above all, supported by scientific information from the relevant institutions," the official mentioned.

The Secretary of Government highlighted that the Local Search Commission and the Subsecretariat of Human Rights maintain coordination with the National Search Commission, the Attorney General's Office, and the Jalisco Prosecutor's Office to exchange information about the findings. He also assured that his office will continue to provide support to families who request it during this process.

Regarding the identification of possible victims, Alcaraz emphasized the importance of conducting some type of DNA validation with relatives to collaborate with the State and National Search Commissions, as well as with the authorities of Jalisco. "We need to conduct some type of identification, some type of DNA validation with some relative that we can assist the State Search Commission with, in turn with its counterpart in Jalisco and the National Commission," he concluded.
