Guadalupe Cepedas, a 63-year-old woman, publicly reported a scam she suffered when interacting with an imposter posing as the singer Enrique Iglesias. The woman revealed that she sent over three thousand dollars to the scammer, which caused problems in her marriage.
In an interview with Primer Impacto, Guadalupe Cepedas expressed her feelings toward the fake Enrique Iglesias, revealing that the situation was seriously affecting her personal life to the point of jeopardizing her marriage. It all started when she joined a fan club on social media and was contacted by this person who took on the identity of the Spanish artist.
For two years, communication with the imposter included romantic messages, promises of gifts, and even marriage proposals. Guadalupe Cepedas even presented evidence such as conversations and a photograph of the engagement ring she received from the scammer.
According to the investigation conducted by Primer Impacto, the scammer used Enrique Iglesias's image on WhatsApp with a phone prefix from Nigeria. Additionally, the woman sent money in the form of gifts to the imposter, coming to consider escaping with him and ending her marriage.
Once Guadalupe Cepedas's husband learned about the situation, the couple went to the authorities to report the scammer. The fake profile was eliminated after the case came to light. Despite the marriage being at risk due to this cyber scam, the couple decided to take action to dismantle the network of scammers involved in the deception.
