
A van-type vehicle transporting a group of alleged students from the University of Guanajuato (UG) was involved in an accident on the road from Moroleón to Guanajuato. According to initial reports, the students were heading to the capital to return to classes after a day off.
In the incident, the van lost control for reasons still unknown and overturned at the height of Valle de Santiago. Emergency teams and security personnel quickly arrived to assist the injured, who were taken to nearby hospitals.
The tragic accident left six people dead and ten injured, including the driver of the vehicle. So far, authorities have not revealed the identities of the victims, but they are expected to do so in the coming hours.
Authorities have begun an investigation to determine the causes of the accident, considering possible factors such as the condition of the road, speed, or any mechanical failure that may have contributed to the overturning.
The University of Guanajuato confirmed that those affected are students of the institution and issued a statement through its social media, assuring that they are closely monitoring the situation and collaborating with authorities in the ongoing investigations.
